Senior Frontend Engineer
San Francisco, CA
- Led a full rebuild of Thumbtack’s web messaging experience, re-architecting the frontend to reach parity with native iOS and Android while improving reliability, maintainability, and product consistency for thousands of users
- Owned complex customer-facing product work end to end: shaped technical approach, defined API contracts, coordinated with design/product/backend, implemented the UI, and drove staged rollout to production users
- Facilitated a ground-up redesign of Thumbtack’s UI kit, owning core tokens, semantic tokens, component standards, and implementation guidance for scalable design-system adoption
- Reduced regressions by writing highly testable frontend code with Jest, integration tests, and Storybook coverage for critical flows across messaging and shared UI components
- Improved React performance and responsiveness by profiling render behavior, reducing unnecessary re-renders, tightening component boundaries, and using browser/React debugging tools to diagnose bottlenecks
- Documented architecture decisions, edge cases, screenshots, recordings, and rollout notes in PRs/Jira, enabling effective async collaboration across engineering, design, product, and customer success
- Drove the end-to-end development and rollout of a major engagement feature, integrating APIs, OAuth authentication, and webhooks to connect frontend and backend systems; collaborated across product, design, and engineering to redefine user interaction patterns
- Championed process improvements in deployment workflows and QA handoffs, reducing rollout friction and improving post-launch stability across multiple product teams
- Partnered closely with design to translate token architecture, interaction patterns, and component behavior into reusable frontend implementation standards
- Improved quality across high-traffic surfaces by catching edge cases early with Storybook, PR walkthroughs, and QA handoffs
